American Style Viennese Waltz is a fast and elegant smooth dance in 3/4 time that moves around the dance floor through the use of right and left turns.

 

It is approximately twice as fast as Waltz, and is accented by open work, when the partners let go of one or both hands to dance under arm turn, free spins, etc.

 

Though challenging to achieve, the goal is to have a whirling, effortless, look to the dance with good maneuverability on the dance floor. The music can be instrumental or vocal, Classical, Celtic, Country or even a "Top 40" hit.
