Karen Shackleford honored to accept the
2016 "Best of Bride New Hampshire Wedding Dance Instructor" award!
From Karen:
"Thank you to all who voted Queen City Ballroom "2016 Best of Bride New Hampshire Wedding Dance Instructor"! Your votes helped Queen City Ballroom earn this honor! How does a business such as Queen City Ballroom achieve this type of award?
It starts with the belief that every couple planning a wedding has a unique story, and that their dance should embrace their story. It starts with listening carefully, asking lots of questions, keeping an open mind, and letting artistic creativity envelop the process. It's about helping two people grow together in their dancing, to feel the joy of working as a team, and to celebrate the goal of expressing their love for each other in the form of a beautiful meaningful first dance as husband and wife. I am very grateful to the many brides and grooms who placed their trust in me to help them with their most important dance.
And thank you to my daughter, Nicki, who is always supportive of my efforts, to my administrative staff, to the venues that provided classroom space, to the many instructors and associates who over the years helped round out the Queen City Ballroom programs, and to all of my students who are always there for me. Fondly remembering my late mother without whose years of encouragement, this award might only be a dream.
With sincere gratitude to everyone who put Queen City Ballroom on the path to this honor! I'll do my very best to uphold the spirit of this prestigious award, and will continuously work toward making Queen City Ballroom the go-to studio in NH for wedding dance instruction!"

The Hippo interviews Karen Shackleford
Kudos to Allie Ginwala, Hippo Press reporter, for her insightful article appearing in this week's Hippo,
"A Blueprint of Moves, How to Dance at a Wedding".
We in the ballroom community continually strive for bigger, bolder, better, and more beautiful interpretations of syllabus figures. Innovation in patterns, precision in footwork, and embellishments that pull it all together. But Ms. Ginwala digs deeper as she focuses her article on those who don't need (and may never want) to execute a perfect fleckerel or volta. Ms. Ginwala reaches past the glitz and glamor of the ballroom world, and brilliantly captures the essence of the social side of ballroom dance: basics, some principles, feeling the music, and having fun. Don't miss this well written article that reminds us all of the many faces of ballroom dance, and presents our favorite hobby as friendly and welcoming to newcomers.
