Queen City Ballroom is proud to offer a diverse, well-structured, professionally taught Ballroom Dance Program.

"Ballroom" is a term used to describe the type of partner dancing that is led and followed in a relaxed, easy atmosphere. Typically, new students in the Ballroom Dance Program are drawn to it after having seen partner dancing on television, at a wedding or other event, or because a spouse or friend has suggested it.

The national governing body for Dancesport in the United States, USA Dance

says, "It is often a good idea to start with group lessons in the American Style Bronze Syllabus. This will give you a basic foundation for social dancing that will be useful all of your life.".

At Queen City Ballroom, we offer American Style Bronze classes in the DVIDA Syllabus which is recognized by the National Dance Council of America. That means you can enroll with confidence! We offer all levels, from beginner through advanced.

A special notice to our valued bronze level QCB dancers and members ...

With the new year we have planned lots of exciting program changes!  We're rolling out new programs, adding instructional staff, and implementing lots of program enhancements.  The number of membership hours offered to bronze dancers per month will remain approximately the same.  Previously, there were 5 courses.  Now there will be 4 courses, a boot camp at established intervals, and a weekly practice session.  But more important then the number of hours offered, is the major enhancement we have made to the program flow.  This is the first time ever that we have offered a course progression from Bronze into Silver, covering all figures and supporting the transition from Bronze into Silver.  Our program is now comprehensive and we believe it is the most complete at the most affordable price in the area!

  • Our courses will now be organized by calendar month, instead of 10-week sections, which makes the monthly membership more applicable.

  • Each of the Big 5 Dances will now be taught in two-month blocks of Beginner Bronze on Monday nights.  There will be two classes every Monday night. 6:15 and 7:15.  Each month, there will always be one of the Big 5 dances starting, and another one of the Big 5 continuing.  They will be called Level 1 and Level 2.  The order of the figures has been reworked for ease of learning.

  • We have added a new course, "Full Bronze" on Tuesdays at 7:45.  Students graduating from any Beginner Bronze Level 2 Course will move into Full Bronze.  The Full Bronze course completes the Bronze Syllabus.  Previously, the way our classes were set up, it was difficult to finish bronze, but now with our new programming, you can!

  • We have also added a "Step up to Silver Boot Camp" to be held on the last Saturday of the Month anytime there is a graduating Full Bronze Waltz or Foxtrot class.  This is a two-hour immersion that will help you learn the basis of the Silver level figures.  It is designed as a transition into the Silver level.  This is another great membership enhancement because previously we had no "bridge" to the Silver level.

  • And now, our Tuesday Silver course has been redesigned with the graduating Bronze student in mind.  Tuesday Silver 1 at 6:15 will now cover only the first level of the Silver Syllabus.  The more advanced Silver figures have been moved to Fridays to be studied by the Intermediate and Advanced group.  This means it's easier to join the Silver level because you can rest assured that the figures will be the more basic Silver figures.

  • Our Bronze specialty membership dances (Bolero, Tango and Samba) will continue to be offered as part of the membership on Tuesdays at 7:00, and by popular request we have added Viennese Waltz to the specialty membership program.  Viennese Waltz will be offered on Tuesdays in January.  We'll bring back the Samba in March.

  • And now there is a free practice session for members ($3 for non-members) on Friday evenings from 7:30 - 8:15 pm.

We hope you'll agree that these changes are a great way to start the new year!  If you have any questions, please call 603-622-1500 or write using our contact form.  And for pricing info, please go to our pricing page, as we have put in place a modest increase to support our new programming,

Thank you, and wishing you happy dancing in 2014!
