International Style Classes

American Style and International Style are the two styles of ballroom dance.

There are differences in how they look, how the figures flow, and how they are used. Both styles can be danced socially, in competition, and for exhibitions, however the American Style lends itself more to the social dance environment, while the International Style is more often used in competition and exhibition dancing.

Most of the Queen City Ballroom programs, including the membership, are based on the American Style. We consider ourselves fortunate however, to have on staff,

Instructor Mica Milojkovic, who is also versed in the International Style.

Quickstep and Foxtrot have a shared origin, and evolved into different dances as the music became more distinct as either "fast" (Quickstep) or "slow" (Foxtrot).

Quickstep music is bright and carefree. The dance is part of the International Standard Style, and as such is studied by dancers who plan to use it in exhibition, competition, or on larger social dance floors.
