Bolero was introduced in this country around the 1930's, having originated from Cuban or Spanish folk dancing. It is similar in some ways to Rumba, sharing the same footwork, timing and many similar figures, but the effect is more dreamy and flowing.
Bolero is the slowest rhythm syllabus dance, and features graceful, romantic movements. It is unique in that the footwork is Latin inspired, while the dance frame is like that of the smooth dances.
